Get It Together--Part 4--Pantry & Refridgerator

Project Simplify: Hot Spot #4 Revealed

Oh geeezzzzz
This is overwhelming. Again, something my sister always helps me do. Miss you Liz.
I am taking it in small steps.
Today I went through my spices, moved them so I could see all of them, and labeled the top. AND I put all the opened bags of rice, choc. chips, coffee beans etc... in glass jars, labeled what needed to be labeled and looked at them, because I LOVE glass jars filled with things.

Will: Hey mom, I'll eat these and you won't have to
worry about where to put them.
Still in his pajamas. Who has time to change their kids
when they are organizing their kitchen.
look at these beauties
I have a lot left to do.
Not too late to join me

What do you think of my blog's new look? It makes me feel good and it makes me feel like blogging.

Get It Together--Part 3--Finished

This week: Go through kids' CLOTHES and TOYS
oh boy
I thought eventually this would be a hot spot and it took everything I had to just let this be and worry about the other tasks at hand. So imagine my excitement when I got to tackle this hurdle this week.
I only posted pictures of Henry's clothes, but I organized Will's too.
I decided to do Henry's toys without his help this time. I went through the playroom everyday and took out toys each time. I was a bit overwhelmed, but everyday it got easier to decipher what to keep and what to put away or throw away.

Henry's Clothes
Last week he actually said, "MOM! that's for my books!"
socks and underwear are in that box for easy access for Henry
I told him he could jump into this pile
Will wanted to be the one in charged of decluttering the snack cupboard in the kitchen
Ohhh M&M's, I better eat these before mom catches me
"Holy Hairballs" as SkippyJon Jones would say
Ryan and I spent one of the nights this week going through like 100 books
books are hard for us because we love them all
half-way done
kids woke up early from naptime--they played while I organized
I was watching Sense and Sensibility
(last week I watched both Pride and Prejudices--
I personally like the Colin Firth version better, sorry young people. Next week--Emma)
finished playroom
Looks good huh? I even vacuumed.
It is getting there people.

The only reason to look forward to Mondays...the reveal!
This woman must have video cameras in my house...seriously.
I am so glad this is this week's declutter project.
I am only sad because my sister Liz usually helps in this area.
I will try to do it without her, but it won't be fun.

Get It Together--Part Two--Finished

Week 2--Thank goodness!
Paper Clutter. Seriously, I was embarrassed to have people over. Wouldn't you be, I mean look at this desk. And let me tell you, this is not the only place that had piles of paper clutter. I took about 5 other pictures of mess, but decided to spare you.
I put everything in a box(es) and that is all I did for a couple of days. My mom was here from AZ and she wanted to help, so she did the dreaded coupon mess. Mainly she recycled all my out-of-date ones. HUGE. Anyway, I feel better and our house feels better...
before (cringe)
(and as my friend Lora says, "look at me now")
Oh man, this is painful.
I hated doing this.
Box of crap, bag for recycling, box for keeping and filing or to be put away, a to be shredded box (I need a shredder),
and a throw away bag. This, my friends, was not fun.
My cute mom. Really? Should a mom of 4 daughters, two in their late 30's look like this? One time in high school someone asked me if I was the mom or the daughter. Come on, we are not the Judds (the Judds were big then). I digress.
This is the box of stuff to keep, I wanted to stab myself in the eye with a pencil at this point
This is where I ended.
A box of files, a to be shredded box, a craft box (I need a craft organizer) and a box of things I still need to figure out. Is that cheating?
Again, my organization can use a little more work and I could use a few things to help organize, but I am happy with the progress and I am happy with the desk and the rest of the places where paper was choking my life.
What is next?
We'll find out Monday. This is getting good!
It is not too late to join

A great ending to a great night.
Dean you have the greatest friends.
I think that may say something about how great you are (or Jodi is) or both.
