Milestones

Henry's New Friend

We are proud parents.
It has only been two weeks and he is asking to go potty.
I have to admit about 2 months ago I tried and quit all in the same day.
Ryan has been very consistent and the jumper upper when Henry makes the face (I can no longer jump up)
Grammy helped the first week, which is the hardest week
By the time he went back to preschool, he was almost a pro
No accidents the second week
By this weekend he was asking to go

I love this boy and I am ecstatic that we are almost diaper free. I am also kinda sad because this means something. He is growing up. I love him so much.

I want to go on the Lazy Reeber

We had quite the time getting in and out of the tubes. At the end of the adventure, we were absoluteley helpless and I had to finally ask the guy for help. My words were, "Hey can you help me, I have a really large stomach."

I love that little face and that he loved being on the Lazy River. Just like his mom, except I love the Metolious River. He enjoyed just sitting back and enjoying the ride. We loved spending the day with the Sandersons at their hotel and hotel water adventure.

The Name Game...Chuck Chuck Bo Buck Banana Fana Fo...uh

Naming a child. Important. I always wanted my kids to have names that meant something to me and would hopefully mean something to them.
Take Henry. First of all that was my name for 31 years and not just my last name. Most people called me "JennyHenry" as one name. I loved it. I loved having the last name Henry. People knew who I was especially in my hometown. I loved being one of the "Henry-girls" (people still ask if I am a Henry-girl and I proudly proclaim my name). I kept my name locked into my legal name after I got married. Legally I am Jennifer Lynn-Henry Gelbrich. Although I loved being a Gelbrich, it hurt to give up my name, it was part of who I was. I mourned it to say the least.
When we found out we were having a boy, I knew that Henry would be his name. I also knew that Henry was not very popular and kind of an old man's name. But I wanted it. Mainly because it was my dad's name and in our family of girls how would it go on? Also the first born on my Tata's side of the family was always named Henry. That was not my main reason, but it made the list. The last reason was two epidurals, 3 hours of pushing and nurse ratchet and doctor duh, I was getting whatever I wanted...graciously from my husband.
(I am getting to the name, I promise)
So Henry it was and it is and it is perfect.

Ryan and I wanted to give this new baby boy a name that meant something to us. We went through all the men/young men we love and admire and decided we would pick names of Young Life kids we would one day want our son(s) character to resemble. We had a list and we love lots of kids. But it came down to two. Now I am speaking for myself here, so Ryan has his own reasons and these are mine.
Our child's first name is Will, after Will Kellar. This is one of Ryan's YL/lacrosse kids turned friend. I love him too. Always available and willing to do anything! He is Ryan's go to guy. He is polite, funny, loves people, loves the Lord and is tenacious about everything he does. Someone you want to be your son or son-in-law.
Our child's second name is Reid. We cannot talk about Reid without smiling and loving this person. If you know Reid, he is just so Reidy. He was actually Ryan and my first child. We had co-custody long before we even dated. Reid took Ryan and I on a date with his girlfriend. I think Reid always knew we would eventually figure it out so did not mind putting us in uncomfortable situations because it would be part of our story someday and HE would be part of our story. And I guess that is right. He is part of our story and now so is his name.
Thank you guys for being in our lives and making a difference in the lives of people around you...we can only hope our sons grow up to be the men you are and are becoming.
So the full name is William Reid Gelbrich. Ryan's grandpa's name is William Gelbrich and we thought that this is also a way to honor Ryan's family.
We will call him Will and when I am mad I will call him WILLIAM REID (isn't that perfect Reid, because I was/am always yelling at you).

Reid
and Will
Keep growing William Reid...cannot wait for you to be here,
(but not for another 8 weeks please).

Jodi Reslock

My wedding day, what bliss, what heat, what wedding programs. No mistakes on those programs, except for one little one. I cannot remember who brought it to my attention, but they said something about a mistake on the program. I checked that thing 100 times and there were no mistakes. Then they pointed to Jodi's name and I was like ya that is how you spell Jodi and Reslock. Oh whoops, for almost a year she had been Sanderson, not Reslock and I had not even realized for a second that I had got it wrong. I did not feel that bad and I still don't, but it is Dean's birthday and so I will say Ha Ha wasn't that funny?
Really I will say Happy Birthday Dean...glad you and my husband are married.

I found these other pictures in my archives on the white mac. I did not know which pictures I was choosing, I just knew they were of Dean's childhood. I thought they were priceless picks and I hope all of you in blog world feel the same.

Erkle?

You are one of a kind Dean Reslock
I mean Sanderson.

The Gelbrich family is proud of you and loves you!

One day I will live with Jenny Henry

On the day that I asked Jodi if I could be a roommate at Stanley Lane, she told me she had told her mom, "One day I will live with Jenny Henry." And that started 5 years of living with the EASIEST, most grace giving, funny, musical performing, loving friend/person. There is no one that knows Jodi that does not love her and feel loved by her.
And today is her birthday. And my present is this blog and the next one after I find my older pictures of our history on Stanley Lane and Feather Cloud Street.

Also Jodi is saying good-bye to Grandma Cookie this weekend. I think the first time I met G Cookie, Jodi went into her room and curled up in bed with her and they laughed together and then we borrowed, "Regarding Henry" from her and then lost it and she never forgot it. Grandma Cookie lives on in Jod. Maybe you will not be as sassy as her, but when you are a Grandma one day, you will be just as fun and just as loving. And you can call me Gina, just like she did. Love you Jodi and I hope as much sorrow as you feel during this time, is also accompanied by pure Joy as well. You deserve it. I am blessed to know you and your family and I am so thankful that there was an open room at Stanley Lane almost 10 years ago.

~Happy Birthday~
